Poker is a card game played by a group of players. Each player has a stack of chips and places bets during each round of play. The goal is to make the best five-card poker hand.<\/p>\n
At the start of each hand each player “buys in” by putting an initial amount of money into the pot (either in the form of cash or chips). After the betting round is over, the dealer deals three cards face up on the table for all players to share. This is called the flop and is followed by another round of betting. After this, the dealer shares a fourth community card on the table, which is known as the turn. Finally, a fifth community card is revealed on the table, which is known as the river, and there’s a final betting round.<\/p>\n
After the last betting round is over, the players reveal their cards and the highest-ranking poker hand wins the pot. Some of the most popular poker hands include a full house, which consists of three matching cards of one rank and two matching cards of another rank; a straight, which is any 5 consecutively ranked cards of the same suit; and a flush, which consists of five cards in the same suit but not in sequence.<\/p>\n
