Many books are dedicated to particular strategies, but it is a good idea to develop your own unique strategy through careful self-examination of your games or by discussing them with other players. The action in a poker hand begins when the player to the left of the dealer makes a bet. Each player in turn must either call the bet by putting chips into the pot equal to or greater than the total contribution made by the player before them; raise it; or drop (fold). When all players have called, raised, or folded, a showdown takes place and the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
During the course of a poker hand, the players may reveal their hands and make bluffs in order to manipulate the other players. The most successful bluffs will be made when an opponent is most likely to fold, such as when the board shows that you have a good pair and your opponents are holding weaker hands.<\/p>\n
